Welcome Back.

"Landscape and the Photograph" - Melanie Paice. As the title hints at, this talk covers not only Landscape photography but also examines how artists have used the photograph to document other landscape works and how painting has influenced the photograph and vice versa. Melanie will also discuss what the distinction is between an artist photographer and a photographer. Melanie is not a photographer but an artist and looks at images from a slightly different perspective than our usual speakers!

"An Evening of Two Halves" -
1. "Remote Worldwide Hydrocarbon Exploration" by Ian Hoskin.

Images and tales from Ian's working life in some of the 'hairier' places of the world.
2. "Tajikistan and into the Wakhan Corridor of Afghanistan" by Gerald Hollingworth.
Gerald will illustrate his recent trip to northern Afghanistan, via Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan.

"365 & Beyond" - Caroline Colegate ARPS. Caroline will lead us on a journey through her Picture-a-Day project - a potpourri of genres and then explain how photography grew into something more than a hobby, concluding with her successful ARPS panel.

"Dragon's World" - Margaret Salisbury FRPS MFIAP FIPF APAGB. Margaret will show images, and tell the stories that go with them, not only of people but the landscape and different images she has taken when travelling, to show, as she says, her view in a pictorial way of the places she has been to over the past ten years. Margaret is a highly regarded photographer, lives in Wales, and is only in our area for a select tour of four clubs.

"Street Photography" - David Gibson. David, who is one of the founder members of iN-PUBLiC, the international collective of street photographers, will present a selection of his work from the last 20 years.

"Joined Up Pictures" - Graham Dew. Exploring the world of joiners, still movies and photocollage, Graham shows his own images in this area, explores the work of others and shares some of the digital techniques for making modern composite images. Graham is the chairman of Arena Photographers and the author of the Joined Up Pictures blog.

"An Audio Visual Journey" - Ian Bateman FRPS MPAGB AV-AFIAP. Ian will show a variety of AV sequences, starting with some early work and moving through the years to more recent ones. He will also cover the basics of making an AV, using PicturesToExe, Photoshop, and Audacity. Ian is an award winning AV worker, an evening not to be missed!

"War photography 1855-1918" - Niall Ferguson. With the invention of the Calotype process in 1839, photography came of age. Niall will cover the various uses of military photography between 1855 and 1918, with an emphasis on the Great War period 1914-18.

"The Prints and the Paper" - Chris Palmer ARPS, AFIAP, DPAGB, APAGB. A Fotospeed supported lecture, where Chris discusses the thoughts, choices and considerations when making his monochrome and colour exhibition prints.

"Another Serving of Tapas" - Ken Scott. Ken will talk about judging dilemas and illustrate some trouble areas, weighing up 'old school' - conforming to what's expected, versus 'new school' - self-expression. This will be done around images from his still-ongoing '365' project. Ken will include some short AV's and touch upon the doctrine of Miksang (also here). This is going to be an exciting, interactive evening so come prepared!

"Digital PhotoArt" - Ann Miles FRPS. As well as presenting many of her own images, Ann includes a discussion of the early history of photography, showing that manipulation of images is not a new phenomenon. Audience participation is encouraged in trying to determine how photography fares as a creative art form. A plethora of creative images.

"Caught By Digital" - Nenne Van Dijk FRPS, DPAGB. Back by popular request - Nenne will show us her mainly still life and flower images as she has ventured into the digital age.

Meetings are held at this venue on Wednesday evenings commencing at 7:45pm unless otherwise stated.

The club does not meet in the summer months of June, July, and August; although evening outings may be arranged at times and venues to be decided.

Next season commences on 4th September 2013.
